System Audits

Detailed compressed air and vacuum audits have several elements in common that should be included in any system evaluation.  A complete system audit evaluates supply, distribution and demand components.  Only after these components are evaluated and/or tested can proper recommendations be made.  Download sample audit reports for review or Contact Us for a consultation.

Key Deliverables:

CONSTITUENTS OF DEMAND: Which production systems or machines are contributing most to demand on the compressed air or vacuum system?  This component tabulates demand from all critical production process and from unproductive demand sources.  Shows both existing and proposed scenarios.

SUPPLY POWER AND VOLUME:
What are the flow rates and power consumption from each air compressor or vacuum pump?  This compontent illustrates how the supply system is performing on a CFM/BHP basis for both existing and proposed configurations.

FINANCIALS: How much money is now spent on supply air compressors or vacuum pumps?  How much money can be saved by making changes? This component evaluates the financial component of the supply systems including energy consumption, energy cost and maintenance cost.

PROCESS FLOW DIAGRAMS: What does the existing supply configuration look like?  What changes are expected in the proposed configuration?  This component shows the supply configuration - both existing and proposed.

ACTION PLAN: What equipment is required for the new configuration?  Where can the new equipment be procured?  This component show the equipment required and the total proposed cost of the project if all changes are made.

The Audit Process

1. IN-BRIEFING: This important meeting outlines your objectives and establishes your priorities.  System issues are discussed and an action plan is developed for the on-site portion of the audit.  The meeting lasts about an hour.

2. ON-SITE AUDIT: Supply, distribution and demand systems are evaluated for each pneumatic system.  Dataloggers are installed and everything that can be measured is measured.  The on-site time varies but an average is 4 days.

3. OUT-BRIEFING: Results of the audit are presented and the implementation action plan is formulated.  All decision makers typically attend this meeting so that agreement on the new plan can be finalized.

4. FINAL REPORT: The final audit report is written with regard to your company's objectives and the results of the audit.  The report contains details on system modifications, equipment recommendations and operating changes.  The final report is typically delivered within 2 weeks of the on-site time.

5. RESULTS VERIFICATION: After project implementation, the audit team is available to do a short reevaluation of the system to confirm that projected results are the actual results.
